Darryl Sittler Biography
The full name of Darryl Sittler is Darryl Glen Sittler. He was born on 18th of September in the year 1950. He is a retired ice hockey player who played the sport in professional level in the national Hockey League. He started his professional career of ice hockey particularly in the year 1970 which continued till the season of 1985. In his ice hockey career he played for three different teams of National Hockey League. The teams in which he was included at different phases of his ice hockey career are Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings and the Philadelphia Flyers. In the year 1989, his name was elected for the Hockey hall of Fame.
Darryl Sittler holds the record in NHL for scoring the maximum number of points in one particular game. This incident took place on 7th of February in the year 1976. No one could be beat this record till date. He scored ten points which included four assists and six goals and the opponent team against whom he had made this record is the Boston Bruins.
Darryl was brought up in St. Jacobs which is situated in Ontario. Since childhood, he was very much attracted towards the sport of ice hockey and he played hockey in minor level particularly for the team of Elmira. This particular player played in the centre position in the game and was about 6ft tall. He had a very good body physique which was accurate for the sport of ice hockey. Though he played in the centre position, yet in many cases he would go in the forward position in order to score goals or to assist the co player for scoring goals. This particular player had got great tackling ability which made him special form the rest of the players. His unique style of tackling helped him to dribble the opponent players and finally score goals. Darryl Sittler has scored in almost every matches of his play. If he could not score in a particular game, he had definitely made efforts to either score goals or to assist his co player.
In the year 1991, he was appointed to the Leafs’ organization in the post of a consultant. The authority appointed Darryl Sittler in that particular to use the experience of this particular ice hockey player. He worked under the manger Cliff Fletcher. The Darryl Sittler Song was composed and dedicated on the 60th birthday of this player.
